Memorial Union
The Memorial Union circa 1925 stands as the first student union west of the Mississippi River and a living memorial to students who served in the Spanish-American War and World War I. Over the past century, it has evolved into the vibrant heart of campus life—housing dining options, meeting spaces, and event venues—while continuing to honor generations of Hornet pride and service.
Clint Bowyer Community Building - Evening Event
​Located on the Lyon County Fairgrounds at 2700 W. U.S. Highway 50, the Clint Bowyer Community Building offers a welcoming, rustic-modern space just minutes from downtown Emporia. Donated by NASCAR driver and Emporia native Clint Bowyer, the venue features 6,500 square feet of event space, a catering kitchen, bar area, and a spacious patio with a fire pit—perfect for relaxing and connecting with colleagues. CHECK attendees will enjoy a classic Kansas BBQ dinner catered by ESU alum Smokin’ O’s, making this evening a true taste of Hornet hospitality.
